Windows 10 Green Screen of Death (GSOD)

Microsoft introduced the Green Screen of Death (GSOD) in Windows 10 Insider Build 14997 in December 2016. Its purpose is to make it easier for Microsoft (and other developers) to spot where a crash screen originated – blue from a consumer build, green from a less stable preview build.

The “frowning face” was added to the BSOD in Windows 8; QR code was added to the Windows 10 BSOD in April 2016.

Nothing else has changed. Minidumps still go to C:\Windows\Minidump\.
